To me, there's not much to discuss comparing the 26 dead by the gun to the 22 wounded by knife. A good book to read is, The Black Hand by a former high ranking Mexican Mafia prison gang member. At one point in the book he talks about prison stabbings and he relates that its not like the movies where you run up on someone and poke them a couple times and they die. He states that they fight back, grunt, and it takes physical effort to penetrate their flesh. Most of the time, the victim survives. I imagine it would be the opposite if inmates had guns instead of shanks.

22 school children got slashed in China by some nut with a knife. I imagine it would have been deadlier if he had a gun. Dont know what China's gun laws are like. But it is very ironic to have had that slashing event in China happen only hours earlier than the Connecticut massacre. Heluva contrast.
Even with stronger gun laws be it limited ammunition or outright banning of certain makes and models, where there's a will there's a way. Kinda like car alarms or the club, might slow a theif down, but if he really wants it, he'll get it.

I have to admit as an active dub, born-in, while I feel for the families, at the same time I feel like a spectator more than I feel any bond towards those families. I almost feel like this whole situation is just another bolt coming loose in Satan's system of things. I never really gave it much thought until this thread, but its kinda difficult at times to view nondub victims with solidarity the way other denominations do. Ive noticed before when brother would pray from the platform and mention only their brothers and sisters after a tragedy as if nondubs didnt exist, and that always bothered me. Never noticed the similar lack of feeling towards others in myself until now. Something for me to work on. Man.

I used to do that at least once a month. Start at 7am, ride around to landromats, convience stores, gas stations. Drop off mags. You'd end up getting around 10 placements (depending on how many dropoffs there were). Then count your time straight through the FS meeting at 9:30 and by noon, you'd be setting at a sweet 5 hrs.
I used to do this to increase my time time too. Lately though I just can't get up early enough to do the laundromat thing. By the way until today I never realized laundromat was spelled the way it is. Always assumed it was laundreymat. Last Thursday evening when I walked into the KH before the meeting started I saw a sister in the kitchen/multi-purpose room/whatever the hell you want to call it, writing furiously at the table. I joked with her, "uh ohhhh, somebody didn't realize they had a talk tonight!!" She corrected me however and told me she was doing letter writing to keep her time going. I replied, "There ya go!!" as if it were something practical we both learned from a TED talk. It's all about the time.
I went out in service Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon with the latter being an attempt to add some life into the Sunday FS. Most people just don't want to go out on Sunday, myself included which is another case in point of how little I've come at telling people no. Funny how a point was made at the WT Study too about Jesus' words on "letting your yes mean yes, and your no mean no", and also not committing to an oath you don't or can't do. Both Saturday & Sunday appeared to be complete wastes of time. We talked to some people that day including one house that just experienced a death in the family, so my partner left them the brochure on losing a loved one in death. I hadn't seen that brochure in so long that I didn't recognize it immediately. I hadn't realized just how diverse the WT's brochure catalogue had become. It's just wasted print for the most part. They waste ink and paper, and JWs such as myself waste time peddling their final product which almost always ends up in the garbage can, either the householder's or the publishers.

Transformers G1 era toys. I've been planning on splurging on the remade "Masterpiece" collections. Skywarp was my favorite as a kid and still is one of my favorite characters. Mom never got me one. I plan on getting this somewhere down the road.

They used an illustration about people on the sidelines cheering runners. Anybody remember that? Or am I wishing they'd print something like that?
